Roxana Ostroveanu, creator of IMROSKA, awarded at Paris Fashion Week

Another Romanian is honoring us abroad! The beautiful fashion designer Roxana Ostroveanu presented at Paris Fashion Week the new IMROSKA collection, called Zebra, and the appreciation was superlative. The Romanian spoke exclusively about the award she won at the big fashion event, but also about inspiration, creativity and future plans.

Click!: Roxana, congratulations on the success of the new IMROSKA collection you presented at Paris Fashion Week 2025! Congratulations also on the Visionary Design Award you received from FashionTV, an award that says a lot about your journey and the success that the new collection enjoyed in Paris. How do you feel after this experience?

Roxana Ostroveanu: Thank you! I am very happy and deeply grateful. For any designer, Paris Fashion Week is probably the most important milestone in the industry. It’s a crowning of the efforts and sacrifices you have made, but it’s also an event that energizes you. It motivates you to keep going, to keep creating, it motivates you to be original and to always bring something new to the public, to those who are interested in beauty, style, fashion. The award that I received is a confirmation that my vision, my creative personality translated into my creations, resonates with the people I address. It’s a moment that I’m very happy about, but which, as I was saying, also motivates me to keep going.

Click: Let’s talk about your collection, Zebra, which has been all the eye-catchers. We know that the zebra, in many African cultures, symbolizes balance, harmony and unity – the duality of life reflected in the black and white stripes. How have you translated this into your designs?

Roxana Ostroveanu: Zebra was a deep inspiration for me, not only aesthetically, but also conceptually. I wanted to explore this idea of duality. The collection is created on contrasts: precise lines and rich textures, black and white harmoniously blending, but also subtle accents of color that break the monotony. Each piece tells a story about harmony, about contrasts that don’t necessarily clash but rather complement each other, but it also tells a story about me and my self, as each creation is part of me.

Roxana Ostroveanu: I am fascinated by symbols, meaningful stories, deep things that make you think. My training as a psychotherapist and my original way of being play an important role in the way I express my creativity, because I am interested in how we perceive the world, how we relate to it. The zebra seemed to me to be a symbol that is extremely rich in symbolism: an animal that cannot be domesticated, wild, authentic, but at the same time so elegant. I wanted to create clothes that reflect this broad concept, to be worn by women like me, who assume their own freedom and individuality.

Click: How was the experience of presenting this collection in Paris, on one of fashion’s biggest stages?

Roxana Ostroveanu: Paris is magic. And Paris Fashion Week is the real trial by fire for designers, as I have said in other interviews. The competition is huge and the public is extremely demanding. I was happy to see how my collection generated positive reactions in the room, it’s a great honor, and the final appreciation was that Zebra is a very original collection. People connected with what I created and it had a really nice energy.

Click!: Tell me about the award you received. What does this Visionary Design Award mean to you?

Roxana Ostroveanu: It is a recognition that honors me enormously. FashionTV is a name with weight, and to be called “visionary” means a confirmation of the uniqueness of my creations, but also a confirmation that the direction I have chosen, to combine luxury with authenticity, to give soul to the clothes, is a relevant direction. I create not just for aesthetics, but to convey something that is part of me and my vision of the world. So this award shows me that I’m on the right track.

Click: Your brand, IMROSKA, is on an impressive rise – from Venice to Paris, now with awards and a growing presence on the international stage. What makes IMROSKA so special?

Roxana Ostroveanu: For me, IMROSKA is not just a brand, but also a state of mind. It is energy and connection with myself, with what I create, and especially with the women who wear my creations. Each piece is designed to be more than just a garment. I work with the best materials in the hand-made couture industry and pay attention to every detail, from the moment I create the patterns to the final point of putting the creations together. Behind this mirage of beauty there is a huge amount of hard work, as I am the one who gives all the directions to the team. As the only person with creative input and creative decision in the whole creative process, this has always been my blessing and my ‘curse’, as they say, heaven and hell. I have divine freedom to create, but there is also enormous pressure. But my creative spirit needs that freedom, and that is why I honestly could not and have never tried to work for anyone. My creations “speak” first and foremost about myself to everyone who wears them, and I emphasize their strength and authenticity, their style, but also their emotions. IMROSKA is refinement, luxury, but a luxury full of essence and soul. And all these things cannot be subjugated to another opinion. That’s why freedom has always been, as we know, so desired in history, but also an “expensive” good, a luxury.

To what do we owe this incredible success

Click!: You’re clearly bringing something unique to the fashion landscape. How do you see the remarkable success of your brand over the past year?

Roxana Ostroveanu: The success of IMROSKA is the result of an incredible team and a vision that I believe in wholeheartedly. We started from scratch, with the desire to do things differently, and built everything step by step. Going to Venice, Paris, Abu Dhabi, receiving awards, obviously all of that has made a lot of difference. But for me, success is not just about trophies, it’s about real impact. When a woman tells me that she feels “Her” wearing IMROSKA, that is the real victory for me.
